Alamaailman Vasarat releases an iPhone game called HammerBlast!

Huh, this is our favourite for sure. In this shoot'em up you get to blow up band's instruments (including the mighty Tubax) while listening to eight exclusive live tracks with a dedicated music player!

Haudasta lomilla now Top 1 in Finland!

Our latest release Haudasta lomilla is now positioned first on Finland's Music DVD Top 10!

We have now completed the live DVD. It will be called Haudasta lomilla ("On vacation from the grave") and features five hours of video material! Some three and a half of those will be pure live performances, recent and a few years old, from Finland and abroad.

Rest will be music videos and extras, like the 28-minute puppet animation Elukka ("Animal") for which the band did an awarded soundtrack in 2005.

This is truly a special package and the band is very proud of it. The expected release is now in May in Finland and there will be release party gigs announced soon.

The new albums's official release date for Finland is now 14th of March!

The album will also be simultaneously released in Japan by a record company Besection. This special version will contain translations and liner notes in Japanese as well as extra song exclusive to this release. This is a first Alamaailman Vasarat album to be printed and released separately abroad. We're very proud of it and very grateful to Tom Ohsawa for organizing this! Kampai!

The record release gig is now scheluded to be at Tavastia club on 29th of March, followed by gigs in Tampere and Turku the next day and the day after. More gigs are coming when the dates are set.

The band just returned from intensive recording sessions at Petrax Studios. Almost all of the new songs have their drums in place and some of the cellos and keys as well. Throughout this month we'll be recording the rest of the instruments. The mixing will start next month and the album is aimed to be ready for mastering early next year.

The targeted release date is now set for 15th of March 2007 and it should be a simultaneous release for both Europe and Japan if everything goes as planned.

How does it sound so far? Pure Alamaailman Vasarat, that's for sure, and freakier than ever. Stay tuned for more information to come.

French film festival Premiers Plans has just awarded Alamaailman Vasarat for Best Short Film Music Score in the animation film Elukka ("Animal"), directed by Tatu Pohjavirta. The film also got the Public Award. Wow!

We are happy and honoured to perform at Gouveia Art Rock 2006 in Gouveia, Portugal, on 9th of April, among such prog-legends as Peter Hammill and Amon Düül II.

Alamaailman Vasarat will join to celebrate Uzva's new album on their album release gig at Tavastia-club on 10th of May.

On 30th of November, Tuomari Nurmio & Alamaailman Vasarat were given one of the biggest awards in Finnish music industry - the Teosto-award. Split between two albums this year, Kinaporin Kalifaatti got the other half and gave us 20 000 euros to share. Yihaa!

Just days before leaving for Tokyo gigs, we will be performing at Semifinal, Helsinki, on 1st of February.

Alamaailman Vasarat will be performing in Tokyo, Japan, at a place called Pit Inn in Shinjuku on 11th and 12th of February 2006. This is our first gigs in Japan!

We have just finished a soundtrack for a 28-minute animation feature film called Elukka ("Animal"). This excellent animation is directed by Tatu Pohjavirta and produced by Camera Cagliostro.

The film score features completely original compositions by the band and also new instruments such as gravely low woodwind, the contra bass clarinet. The soundtrack will not be published separately but some of the songs might end up on a upcoming album or perhaps on a DVD someday. Check out the film site and prepare to see it on Finnish TV and film festivals!

Added a few gigs in the Netherlands during Holidays.

Sadly, the upcoming gigs with Tuomari Nurmio have been cancelled due to hand injury suffered by our drummer! This effectively means that the collaboration work has ended too. Thanks for Tuomari Nurmio, Tohtori Hillilä and everyone else involved and good luck with your future ventures!

The joint venture with Tuomari Nurmio is coming to an end. As we originally agreed, the collaboration gigs will not continue next year. This means that the 16.11. gig at Tavastia is probably the last chance to see this once-in-a-lifetime act together, ever. Get your tickets while they last, because this gig will surely be a sold-out event.

A collaboration album with Alamaailman Vasarat and Tuomari Nurmio (and Tohtori Hillilä) is now ready and mastered!

Album is called "Kinaporin kalifaatti" and it features 11 compeletely new songs and a bonus five-song live-DVD "Palataan Aasiaan".

This generous package shows Vasarat at its best perfectly saluting Tuomari Nurmio's raspy voice and distinctive lyrics.

The official release date in Finland is 9th of March and there'll be a lot of gigs to follow this spring and next summer. Stay tuned for more information and samples.

Alamaailman Vasarat will be teaming up with Tuomari Nurmio and Tohtori Hillilä to conceive a new album.

This collaboration will feature all new songs from Tuomari Nurmio hammered up by the band and Tohtori Hillilä to create very Vasar-Asian experience spiced up with Tuomari's distinctive vocals and lyrics.

Featuring two drum sets and new instruments such as a roaring bass saxophone this album will surely be an interesting musical exploration for all three parties involved.

Expect to hear some of the new songs in the upcoming gigs this summer and be ready to buy the album when it hits the shelves somewhere around early 2005.

NEW ALBUM IS OUT!

Käärmelautakunta, the second Alamaailman Vasarat album has been released and is now available in Finland!

To celebrate this major event the whole site has been revamped. Check out new music samples. Three music videos will be released within a week or two.

The new Alamaailman Vasarat album, titled Käärmelautakunta, is nearly finished and a record release party is booked for the 2nd of April. It will take place at the Adult Nuthouse Club at Mocambo, Helsinki.

This grand event will also be featured by the hosts of the club, named alike, the Adult Nuthouse of misters Sam Huber and Björn B. Lindström.

Alamaailman Vasarat at NEARfest 2003!
The best prog festival in US just got better. Next summer the band will venture to New World and perform at NEARfest 2003, Trenton, New Jersey along with Magma, Flower Kings and other top prog bands. If we're lucky, more gigs will follow around this major event on June 28th.

Alamaailman Vasarat now with two cellos!
A long time "shadow" cellist Tuukka Helminen is now officially a member of the band. Marko Manninen has also fully recovered from his hand accident last year and we've been able to explore arrangement possibilities with the new lineup.
The sound of two cellos is incredible in both heavy and lyrical stuff! You can hear them perform on the upcoming album and future gigs.

Vasarat assault Holland! Alamaailman Vasarat will do a show in Marathon 2002 jazz festival in Groningen, Holland on 18th of October 2002. The festival will be headlined by the US keyboardist George Duke. Marathon festival will be recorded and broadcast around Europe, including Radio X3M and Radiomafia in Finland.

The recording schedule has been postponed, and the anticipated release date is around February 2003.

New Alamaailman Vasarat album this year!
The band will now concentrate on composing and arranging new material. The exact release date is not set, but it will be around Christmas this year. Recordings start in the middle of September. We'll keep you posted how things are proceeding.

Alamaailman Vasarat just got back from Prague shooting our next music video. Once again Markku Mastomäki directed, Ilpo Kari photographed and Ville Härkönen starred in this 16mm black & white short film. Antti Pesonen was asked to write the story which will feature Ville and band in double-roles. This time we decided to shoot the video first and write music afterwards! Later we'll add some production stills and of course the final video when it's done.

Our cellist Marko Manninen had a minor hand injury recently, but we were able to find a suitable replacement quickly enough. Tuukka Helminen will be the cellist for upcoming gigs and already did some unbelievable performances with us earlier this month. Tuukka plays cello also in Kwan, The Rasmus and numerous other bands and projects. Marko Manninen will be back with deadly force when healing process is over.

The band is now working on their second video. The song is called "Häntä hellii käärme" and the shooting starts at the beginning of June. The video will be directed by Markku Mastomäki who also directed "Kebab tai henki!".
